Job Description

The Field Project Engineer supports field activities and spends a majority of time working with the craft workers. Activities include support of layout, daily resource requirements, lay-down yard management, daily costs, time and quantities, logs, and daily and weekly look-ahead schedules, etc.

Contributes to Project Productivity: Contributes to the project by assisting with installation and removal of all formwork, all concrete pours and pumping systems, rigging of all materials being flown and installation of rebar and post-tensioning systems.

Supports Superintendent on Construction of Project: Interfaces with Foremen to track daily costs, collect time and quantities while maintaining daily logs/diaries; ensures quantities are updated for monthly financials. Ensures resources such as equipment are available to meet project needs. Under direction of Superintendents, coordinates generation of required documentation such as status reports (RFI's, deviation reports, constructability reviews), punch lists, and shop and construction drawings. Collected field information to assist Foremen and Superintendents in preparation of daily and weekly look-ahead schedules and work plans. Gathers, communicates, and maintains documentation of targets and goals. Assists more experienced engineers or surveyors with field layout activities and measurement. Generates and maintains material logs. Manages storage of on-site equipment and material.

Supports Project Engineering and QA/QC Activities: Prepares submittals and obtains necessary approvals on documents from Project Engineers. Generates pre and post-pour checklists, and any other quality walk-throughs, and obtains necessary approvals.

Supports Project Safety: Assists documenting near-misses and injury incidents; may escort injured co-workers to medical facility. Participates on LEAN/SQP committee.

Work Environment: Work is a combination of office and field environments involving various types of conditions encountered on the construction site.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university; or 4 years' of construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have the ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 20 pounds
