RK&K is hiring College Interns for the Summer season to join the Construction Division in our Orlando office. Our interns will receive on-the-job training, mentorship and insight into various aspects of the consulting engineering industry from design to field work and client management. Individuals will be exposed to various challenges, projects and technology related to their specific discipline.

As a Paid Intern in our Construction Management Division you will support the project management team under the direction of a Senior Inspector with the following:

• Assist with monitoring activity at the construction site by ensuring work progresses by schedule and contract specification are adhered to
• Coordination of soils, asphalt, and concrete testing
• Tracking of materials arrival to job site per the approved submittals
• Identification of potential unforeseen conflicts, insufficient traffic control measures, or unsafe work conditions
• Management of contracts, files, and progress reports
• Ensure document and quality control are performed in accordance to standard test methods
• Safely and effectively sample soil materials from the roadway, take earthwork density readings and record those findings in a density log book.

Required Qualifications

• Pursuit of Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar degree required
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Valid driver's license
• Work both independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship experience in construction survey preferred
  

Other Duties
Act as our company representative on roadway construction sites ensuring that workmanship and materials comply with specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing assignments in assisting Senior Inspectors in the performance of their duties, and will receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.

May be required to lift heavy objects, excessive walking, driving, bending and reaching, pointing or directing objects or materials.
