Job Description

Baker Concrete Construction, Inc., one of the nation's largest concrete contractors is searching for a Project Scheduler. The Project Scheduler collaborates with the project team to identify and organize the flow of work activities and schedule logic and constraints to create the project schedule. Maintains the baseline schedule and updates and tracks associated impacts to capture the historical timeline of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and Maintains Project Schedule: Meets with project team to identify work activities and their flow. Develops the critical path construction schedule and analyzes this path and other constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend "workaround". Integrates project team logic and sequencing into the project schedule. Memorializes the historical timeline of the project. Prepares draft schedules for review and approval. Develops and updates weekly short interval schedule based on project team input. Updates schedule based on project inputs and incorporates fragnets into the schedule to identify impacts. Alerts project team of risks affecting project profit, costs, schedules and client relations. Advises project team of potential activities that can be scheduled to enhance the project delivery and recommends alternate ways to push activities back to better manage resources.

Work Environment: Work is performed indoors and the office noise level is usually moderate. Limited travel required.

Job Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a construction technical program and 3 years' related construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, construction experience, and/or training

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business-related periodicals, journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

  • Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to use computer programs (such as Primavera, Project Management Software, FileNet, BindR, etc.)

  • Able to persuade the project team to follow the most effective construction schedule

  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Ability to read, understand, and retain a working knowledge of contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope of work

  • Ability to predict probable outcomes based on "what-if" scenarios

  • Exerts minimal physical effort, occasional handling of average weight objects up to 10 pounds
