We seek a dedicated individual who will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment, such as a frontend loader, excavator, forklift, sweeper, used at the Braintree Transfer Station located in Braintree, MA, to receive, stockpile, process, prepare for transport and load municipal solid waste into transfer trailers, or other similar vehicles.

Principal Responsibilities:

*Operate various pieces of equipment and machinery to facilitate the receipt, stockpile, process and load municipal solid waste into transfer trailers. Candidate must good solid communication skills and must be flexible to work different shifts. Position will also require candidate to complete special projects and duties assigned by supervisor and any other related duties. *Maintain effective equipment checks (pre and post operations). *Ability to perform equipment maintenance and repairs as instructed by maintenance department and transfer station supervisory personnel. *Obtain information regarding material entering transfer station by greeting customers, visually confirming contents are appropriate for the transfer station. * Follow and enforces all required Covanta safety policies and procedures. * Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). *Must be able to deal with public effectively and without controversy. *Provide instructions to customer for proper location of disposal on tipping floor. Thorough knowledge of the waste ban procedures and perform inspections effectively and accurately in accordance with state mandated Waste Ban Regulations. Perform facility inspection checks assigned by Transfer Station Supervisor. Maintain various items at the transfer station for continual operation i.e., sprinkler system, radiation monitors, alarm system heating and cooling system etc.


The interested individual must have a High School diploma or equivalent. * Mechanical, equipment or trade school certificate or training a plus. * Minimum of 1 year of prior experience working at solid waste handling facilities or similar facilities that are regulated by OSHA is preferred. *Must be familiar with all of the equipment used at the facility to process refuse and support baler operations. * A valid State Driver's license is preferred. Also a Massachusetts State Hydraulics license type 2-A, 1-C.
