Job Brief

Machinist

Aurora Flight Sciences is a Tier 1 provider of high value added Aerostructures products to the prime aircraft companies in America's aerospace, defense and civil aviation markets.

 

Aurora Flight Sciences seeks an experienced machinist to join our support team in Manassas.

The machinist will work with cutting edge software and state of the art machines to develop and build prototype parts for autonomous aircraft.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop programs in Mastercam for aircraft part fabrication and machining

  • Work with Haas CNC milling machines

  • Machining small and large parts using multiple types of metal

  • Tolerances may be required as close as .0005

  • Program, develop and fabricate composite tools to build prototype composite aircraft parts for multiple programs

  • Collaborate with machinist team and engineers

  • Ability to work from drawings, sketches and verbal instruction

  • Responsible for safely operating shop equipment and maintaining equipment when needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years direct machining experience

  • 3 years Mastercam programming experience

  • High school diploma

  • U. S. Person

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trade school, machinist apprenticeship

  • Job shop experience

  • Sheet metal and CNC programming experience

  • Communication skills and the ability to interface in a professional manner with fellow employees and internal/external customers.

  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
