AIR works with federal, state, and local government agencies, philanthropies and other organizations to conduct research and evaluation and provide technical assistance in the areas of education, health and workforce development, in the U.S. and abroad.

 

We are currently looking for an Education Researcher with strong quantitative analysis experience. The Quantitative Researcher will work in Research & Evaluation at AIR growing a strong research agenda while also contributing to existing projects. Initial assignments will include quantitative analyst positions on large federal grants evaluating innovations in education research.

Responsibilities

• Develop a full understanding of the US Department of Education grant requirements

• Develop a full understanding of the Institute of Education Sciences standards and guidelines

• Write reports and technical memoranda that are clear, concise, and of varying length

• Manage small-scale studies, overseeing the work of research assistants

• Provide support for large-scale studies

• Critique and review other research documents and proposals

• Plan, coordinate, and perform statistical analyes for basic work assignments and for parts of complex work assignments

• Apply advanced knowledge of statistical procedures, pyschometric methods and their applications and statistical programming

• Ensure quality control of deliverables

• Work closely with education stakeholders to negotiate relevant research questions and carry out projects that are useful in policy and practice

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Statistics, Education Measurement, Psychometrics, Psychological Measurement, Social Science or a related field with 0-3 years of experience or Masters Degree with 4-7 years of experience and an emphasis on quantitative analysis or psychometrics

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to organize and present education data on interactive web graphs

• Superior in-person communication skills, ability to translate highly technical information to lay audiences

• Excellent time management skills

• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team

• Ability to translate research methods and findings for a non-technical audience
