Serves as chief engineer of system and server architecture projects for all projects being evaluated, maintained, or updated by the department.
Provides expert analysis, recommendations, and consultation on system infrastructure solutions.
Participates in a multi-disciplinary team to provide guidance and design for all new technology/solutions.
Provides in-depth technical and systems consultation to ensure alignment with the Enterprise Architecture.
Develops and maintains systems/solutions architecture roadmap based on business strategic initiatives.
Maintain a thorough understanding of emerging technologies, including Virtualization, Cloud Computing, SaaS, and more. Maintain a thorough understanding on DoD Information Assurance standards and apply appropriately in the evaluation of technical solutions.
Provide consultation and support in all aspects of projects involving virtual server consolidation, design and implementation. Support the organization with the design, testing, monitoring, and change management activities related to system and server architecture.
Provide guidance and training to departmental engineers, functional analysts, project managers, stakeholders and more related to applicable technical projects.
Contribute to process improvement activities and methodologies within the department, including documenting policies, procedures, implementation plans, and more.
Design, build and maintain departmental equipment including, but not limited to, internet ISP connection, firewall, router, switch, compute, storage, virtualization and Cloud VPC.
Expertise in infrastructure technologies including, but not limited to, compute technologies, virtualization technologies, block/file storage devices, hyper-converged infrastructure, and Disaster Recovery planning and design.
Advanced understanding of the industry, market segment, and emerging technologies.
Required Skills
Requirements:
6+ years of system architecture and engineering experience, in a DoD space preferred
MCITP, MCSE,
VCP certification, or equivalent experience
Four-year degree
Secret clearance required
Must meet DoD 8570 requirements
