Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner- Perioperative Care Clinic (1900028V)

All advanced nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, Children's National Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. Children's National supports the development of APRN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large. Credentialed by the medical staff and licensed to function in an expanded nursing role as an Advanced Practice Nurse to a group of patients. Acts in a collaborative and integrated practice with a physician and is responsible for the management of care to patients assigned including: diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and the assessment, implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. All activities are performed within the guidelines of protocols agreed upon by the authority of licensure, the medical and nursing divisions, and the medical staff bylaws. Provides leadership and consultation within a specialty area through participation in division/department initiatives and mentorship of others. Participates in Divisional/Departmental and organizational wide initiatives to represent advanced practice nursing, and leverage the role of the advanced practice nurse.

The Pre-operative Care Clinic is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our collaborative team. Our clinic includes Hospitalists, Anesthesiologists, RNs and Nurse Practitioners. We work with surgical teams across virtually all services in the hospital. Our clinic goal is to provide comprehensive, family-centered care to patients who have complex medical and surgical needs.The Nurse Practitioner works as a liaison between surgeons, specialists and anesthesiologists to help coordinate an appropriate surgical plan of care and ensure the surgical process goes smoothly for patients and families.



Qualifications

Minimum Education
Master's Degree

Specific Requirements and Preferences
Nursing with National Board certification in one of four APRN roles. Continuing education credits necessary to maintain national
board certification, and state licensure. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years Perioperative, PACU, Surgery, or ICU experience required.

related experience in pediatrics (Required)

Clinical Practice
1. Effectively identify , evaluate, and address disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in practice while administering quality patient care.
2. Work in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, allowing for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
3. Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues by area of practice.
4. Educate patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
5. Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records.
6. Document all medical evaluations, diagnosis, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with federal and state regulatory standards.
7. Analyze new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or training, and assimilate this new knowledge into clinical practice; inform and educate others regarding new learned knowledge from conferences and educational activities especially evidence-based best practices.
8. Practice within the Scope of Practice and Delineation of Privilege Credentialing Documents for role and Division.
9. Maintain clinical competency related to clinical area for privileged procedures.

1. Direct the clinical work of APRN students and new hires through precepting and evaluation of orientation process.

4. Provide a point of contact for patients and families pre, post and throughout hospitalization.
