Job Description

The Coordinating Teacher - Judy Center is responsible for the performance and results of Baltimore City Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Center based on the 12 Components. Working within the Judy Center Partnership, develops and achieves yearly goals and milestones for the Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Center Grants (Judy Center) completes grant applications, designs, and implements data collection systems.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates all program activities for the Judy Center partnership.
  • Designs and implements data collections. Compiles and submits required reports (including MSDE required reporting).
  • Achieves and maintains required program accreditation/validation.
  • Develops strategies for increasing program visibility and expansion, enrollment strategies, including recruitment of new partners. Coordinates all issues affecting the partners.
  • Develops and leads monthly Steering Committee meeting agendas, handouts, etc. Develops and distributes meeting minutes.
  • Attends statewide Judy Center meetings.
  • Plans and facilitates Interagency Steering Committee meetings.
  • Makes presentations on the Judy Center for organizations, agencies, and conferences.
  • Conducts and coordinates the development and distribution of: surveys for agency partners, day child care providers, parents, Judy Center staff, marketing materials, medical packets, and permissions.
  • Provides fiscal oversight and accountability for the purchase and coordination of services, supplies, and materials for offices, classrooms, activities and events.
  • Develops and distributes parent newsletters.
  • Obtains and distributes brochures of interest to parents, i.e. child care, health issues, developmental stages, etc.
  • Develops and executes transition plans for children moving from one school year to the next.
  • Holds weekly staff meetings to ensure component compliance monitoring with partners.
  • Holds case management meetings on a biweekly schedule to review and monitor data collection, and documentation of partnership activities.
  • Attends Judy Center events including periodic evening workshops and events.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies, follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development and appropriate curriculum for children birth through age five.
  • Minimum of three years experience in Early Childhood Education and/or parent training.
  • Valid Maryland State Department of Education Standard Professional Certificate with teaching endorsement.
  • Experience and effective management in coordinating services and collaborating with multiple agencies and service providers.
  • Evidence of staff development experience and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate positively to colleagues, children, and families. Work under pressure and make decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established procedures.
  • Experience in coordinating/managing early childhood program and ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate the work of others.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Thorough working knowledge of current technology to include critical programs, data base, record keeping, office equipment, and software.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential records, and prepare reports from such records.
  • Being physically able to lift up to 25 pounds, move, set up and take down equipment.
  • Proficient in the knowledge and use of technical computer applications including Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
