Electrical Engineer

NAVFAC Washington, with headquarters on the historic Washington Navy Yard, manages the planning, design, and construction of all shore facilities for the Navy & U.S. Marine Corps in the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and Maryland and boasts more than $1 Billion in annual business volume. Position Summary:
The Capital Improvements Business Line for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Washington is seeking electrical engineers interested in becoming a part of their team to design, engineer, and manage the construction of facilities Navy installations throughout the NCR. 
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Assists in the design/review of energy/LEED/sustainability requirements and goals.   
· Supports various stages of the acquisition process.
· Involved in commissioning and LEED certification process.   
· Prepares working drawings and specifications with an experience in AutoCAD.
· Reviews/comments on plans and specifications for such facilities as hospitals, steam/power plants, R&D facilities, office buildings, barracks, hangars, labs, universities, and other sophisticated projects.
· Works with design team contractor or in-house staff to coordinate the project.
· Serves as a technical consultant and provides field visits/inspections during construction.
· Identifies high-risk projects and overseeing/approval of UPS, Standby Generators, Switchgear, interior and exterior electrical power distribution.
· Reviews/evaluates operation manuals, equipment warranties, and material certifications submitted by the contractor.                                                                    
 
Minimum Qualifications:
· BS degree in Electrical Engineering or higher education required. 
· 3+ years of experience in facilities electrical engineering. 
· P.E. license for GS-13 level required. 
· Highly trained and experienced electrical engineer in facilities construction. 
 
Miscellaneous Notes:
· Candidates must be able to receive and hold a Secret clearance prior to their start date, however, a clearance is NOT required to be considered for this position.
