Company Overview
Wiley Rein presents a rare opportunity for new lawyers and summer associates. Although we have more than quadrupled in size over the last twenty years, with lawyers working in more than two dozen legal specialties, we have retained the spirit of a smaller firm and continue to operate without rigid departments. Lawyers from different legal disciplines work together easily. Client teams reflect the talent needed to solve the client's problem, rather than being dictated by the internal organization of the firm. It's a team philosophy that extends to our service to the community as well as to our clients. Our lawyers provide pro bono representation that mirrors the commitment and excellence they bring to bear on behalf of our paying clients.
Since its inception in 1983, the firm has gained the critical mass, significant clientele and reputation for quality performance necessary to place us in a leadership position among Washington, DC law firms. As a leader, we provide a full range of services to clients in a variety of industries. Our attorneys practice before more than twenty federal departments and administrative agencies and nearly half of them are involved in complex litigation in courts and administrative tribunals not just in this country, but around the world. Our longstanding expertise makes us a key player in the issues facing communications and other high tech companies. We regularly assist our clients in the full panoply of business issues. Our Practice Wiley Rein represents both domestic and international enterprises ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to start-up ventures. Our work, like many of our clients, rides the cutting-edge in both well-established and developing areas of the law. Our traditional litigation and regulatory practices are vibrant and expanding. Our client base is diverse and a substantial number of our clients are communications, Internet or high-tech companies. These and other entities seek out Wiley Rein for our attorneys' expertise in navigating government minefields and in the types of legal issues that players in these industries face. Throughout our dynamic growth, we have remained focused on maintaining Wiley Rein's familial, informal environment. Our workplace is characterized by open doors, first-name dealings with all, and, often, a bit of humor. Associates, as well as partners, actively participate in firm management by serving on a range of committees. While the needs of our clients come first, we are also committed to our lives beyond the office. Many of us are regularly engaged in activities outside of the firm, whether they be professional associations, community programs, charitable organizations, artistic endeavors, athletics, or coaching children's sports teams. Our attorneys include graduates of more than 50 law schools, almost 50 former judicial clerks (including five Supreme Court clerks), and a former U.S. Congressman. In addition, many Wiley Rein lawyers have served with distinction in a variety of government positions in both Democratic and Republican Administrations, including the firm's name partners Dick Wiley, former Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, and Bert Rein, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs. |
