| Job Details: | - High school diploma or equivalent is required - Licensed in the State of MD - Computer skills required - Customer service skills required - Experience is required - Good communication skills required General Summary: The Surgical Physician Assistant will work in a team structure to provide the following: Surgical assistance in the operating room upon request to any surgeon with a delegation agreement. Daily post-operative rounding and follow-up with the attending surgeon. The PA is responsible for admission History and Physical examinations, daily progress notes, daily orders, and discharge summaries for all patients admitted to them by the attending surgeon. Evaluation of patients in the Emergency Room and on the surgical floor at the request of the attending surgeon. Performance of bedside procedures including central venous catheter placement, tube thoracostomy, arterial catheter placement and peripherally inserted central catheters when credentialed to perform such procedures. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Minimum Requirements: Current active license as Physician Assistant from the State of Maryland. Must qualify for prescriptive authority. Must have operating room experience. Must possess excellent communication skills. Must function well in a team environment. Working Conditions: This is a hospital-based position. Significant time will be spent in the Operating Room; employee must have endurance for long procedures. Hospital in-patient floors. Ambulatory Care Center. Shifts are scheduled through the PA Coordinator or designee Reporting Relationship: Patient care responsibilities are delegated to the PA through a formal delegation agreement with the attending physician known as the primary supervising physician. All direct patient care decisions must be made in conjunction with the primary supervising physician as mandated by Maryland Law. The surgical PA group will report directly to the Supervising Physician registered with the State of Maryland. |
