Specific Job Description The Release Manager is ultimately responsible for all aspects associated with the design, development and transition of new/upgraded software versions. As such, the position requires extensive interaction with the engineering staff assigned to the release as well as all coordination with external segments/elements involved with the software release. Detailed project planning and scheduling skills are a must. The Release Manager provides detailed status briefings to a variety of engineering and management forums, involving both contractor and customer management. This requires an ability to understand the technical aspects of the software release and to be familiar with the technical issues and risks associated with the release. The Release Manager is required to constantly keep the pulse of the particular software release that they are assigned to and to instill a strong leadership presence across the various organizations within the program.

Typical Minimums Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an expert, authority in discipline.
