MAJOR DUTIES: |

| The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of legislative research services for the Office of Chief Counsel including but not limited to: - Planning, implementing and coordinating all policies, procedures and objectives relating to the operation of the legislative research section of the library; - Building, developing and maintaining a comprehensive collection of legislative research materials to support the extensive research activities of Counsel's legal and professional staff; - Designing and performing complex online searches of appropriate databases in areas involving legislative materials and issues; - Reviewing and evaluating services provided, ensuring that the extensive research needs of the agency are met, and that the sections collection of legislative research materials remain the most comprehensive collection in the metropolitan area; -Responsible for monitoring and tracking legislative activity of interest to the office; utilizing both manual and automated services to ensure that legislative tracking functions are comprehensive, timely and that all current and pending legislation of interest to the agency is properly identified and monitored; -Providing sophisticated research and reference services tot the legal staff of the agency, in area involving tax, appropriations, bankruptcy, social security, government contracts, Freedom of Information and disclosure, federal employee benefits, and public sector law; -Serving as resident expert for the Office of Chief Counsel on all questions involving legislative history research. | |
