Location: Laurel, Maryland

The Special Program Division of the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is seeking a Facility Manager. This position is located at the new Beltsville-Laurel Senior Activity Center in Laurel, MD.

Our ideal candidate will provide advance professional recreation facility management for a complex Senior Activity Center which has two functions: a comprehensive senior activity center and rental facility.

Examples of Important Duties:

The Facility Manager manages operations at a multi-functional complex. Defines and implements operational goals and objectives of complex. Supervises staff in day to day maintenance and repair of complex. Develops and manages a variety of programs within the center to meet the wide variety of interests and needs of the senior population, ages 60 & Better. Supervises staff. Plans, schedules, and assigns work of supervisors and other staff.

The incumbent manages and coordinates operating budget for the center. Supervises the processing and maintenance of administrative records and reports. Prepares technical reports and financial reports. Controls expenditures in accordance with approved budget. Monitors significant and complex revenue producing programs and activities. Develops marketing strategies for the programs and facility.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty;
  2. Three years of progressive professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or area of required specialty, including one year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor;
  3. An equivalent combination of education and experience;
  4. A valid operating license (i.e. county pool operator’s license, child care license, etc.) where appropriate.
  5. A valid driver’s license may be required.

Supplemental Information:

Works in an assigned complex which normally operates seven days per week.

Works extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
