Purpose of Job
Provides guidance and assistance to staff performing ultrasound examinations and other related technolo-gies.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepares work schedules to assure that staff are available for patient appointments.
2. Assures that staff explains ultrasound procedures or other examination technologies to patients.
3. Provides training and guidance to assure that equipment is properly and safely operated.
4. Assists staff to confirm that images meet requirements of radiologists.
5. Makes arrangements for contractor maintenance and repair of equipment.
6. Orders equipment, film, and supplies and assures that inventories are properly managed.
7. Assures that patient information files are prepared and filed correctly.
8. Reviews and submits reports showing the number and type of examinations conducted by the depart-ment.
9. Performs duties as a Diagnostic Medical Sonagrapher as required.
10. Performs other related duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
• Three years of experience as a Sonographer required.
Education and Training
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an ARDMS accredited program or equivalent in ultrasound technology required.
License, Certifications, Other Credentials
• Certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in adomen and/or ob/gyn re-quired; however, additional certifications such as breast or vascular preferred.
• CPR certification required.
Other Qualifications
• Must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
• Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time
• Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
• Knowledge of customer focused service requirements of the organization.
• Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with members and coworkers.
• Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
Essential Functions (i.e. bending, lifting, and mobility):
? In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, and see.
? Required to stand, push, pull and lift patients
? May be required to lift heavier then 50 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills, walk and stand for prolonged periods, see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises.
