Position Description

Title: Grants Officer Area: Headquarters Dept: Institutional Advancement Department Status: Full-time Location: Washington, DC Reports To: Manager of Grants PURPOSE: The Grants Officer will be in the Institutional Advancement department and report to the Manager of Grants. This position will focus on: proposal and grant report (program and financial) tracking and coordination; proposal and grant report writing and editing; and grant program database maintenance DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Coordinating with program, finance and country staff in 10 global offices on inputs and deadlines for proposal and grant report writing • Prepare abstract/summary of final grant and key terms and internal functional leads • Document key compliance and reporting requirements • Maintaining and implementing tracking system for proposal and grant reporting deadline, including setting up a calendar for ongoing deliverables • Organize grant kickoff meetings with key stakeholders • Drafting, editing and proofreading of proposals, reports and letters • Reviewing call for proposals, and researching grant making institutions, such as foundations, governments and UN agencies • Maintaining and updating grant/foundation records in database and folders QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS: • BA degree in English, international development or related field, and three years of relevant work experience in a nonprofit • At least two years of experience with foundation proposal and report writing; familiarity with government/multi-lateral grants a plus • Interest and desire to work on institutional fundraising • Strong research, writing and editing skills • Ability to analyze data/info and think critically • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail • Self starter who can work both independently and coordinate with a team • Ability to balance multiple tasks, work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel, and experience using a database • A commitment to Women for Women International’s mission and vision TO APPLY: Please submit your cover letter, resume/CV and one 3-5 page writing sample no later than October 30, 2009, via: 1.
