Serves as primary contact for the Center for Heart, Lung and Kidney for the financial approval and reimbursement of renal transplants. Leads the negotiations to obtain formal approval for the transplant procedure; determines the need for physician involvement in the negotiations. Disseminates authorization documents to appropriate department and hospital staff. Keeps administrative staff and physicians informed throughout the approval process. Works with the Clinical Transplant Coordinator in planning, and scheduling the appropriate tests and appointments for both the transplant recipient and related donors. Associates Degree or comparable level of education. 3-5 years work experience in patient billing and/or insurance claim verification is required. Experience with claim processing/reimbursement, Utilization Review is preferred. Familiarity with dialysis and/or renal program is preferred.
