DIRECTOR, MILITARY PROJECTS
Summary -
Military Projects @ ZERO TO THREE has grown out of ZERO TO THREE’s ongoing commitment to “give voice” to very young children. Military Projects provides training, consultation, materials and resources to military and civilian communities, professionals and parents on issues unique to the needs of infants and toddlers in military families. This position will direct the activities and oversee staff of Military Projects @ ZERO TO THREE. The primary functions of the Director are to manage current initiatives; provide reflective supervision and guidance to supervisors/managers within Military Projects; establish and maintain relationships with public and private funders; manage all budgets; and oversee the strategic planning, development and sustainability of our work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
• Manage all budgets of Military Projects @ ZERO TO THREE.
• Oversee contracts development and implementation for work associated with Military Projects.
• Generate funding, maintain and develop relationships, form partnerships, and create opportunities to expand the ability of ZTT to support young children in military families.
• Develop the continuing mission, vision and strategies for the expanding and sustaining of Military Projects @ ZERO TO THREE.
• Oversee personnel, including contractors, consultants, partnering agencies, etc. and provide supervision to Assistant Director, National Guard and Reserve Program Manager, Senior Writer/Program Analyst, Senior Medical Analyst, and Administrative Assistant
• Support staff in the activities associated with the work of Military Projects to include providing supervision, facilitating Military Projects staff meetings, and provide appropriate ongoing performance evaluations.
• Responsibility for ongoing reporting, evaluation and quality control of Military Projects activities.
• Maintain and develop all relationships in support of currently funded work, to include partnerships associated with currently funded work.
• Represent ZERO TO THREE at various events, meetings, conferences, etc. as requested.
• Participate in ZERO TO THREE directors and other program management meetings to ensure synergy of efforts across the organization.
• Participate in external events, particularly those that represent the work of ZTT on behalf of military families, as a speaker, panelist, etc. as requested.
• Contribute to the overall vision and work of Military Projects @ ZERO TO THREE activities by participating in regular staff meetings.
Skills and Experience -
• Must have significant experience with military family support activities and systems across Service branches, including National Guard and Reserves, preferably connected to combat related deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan;
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development, with a specific focus on infant and toddler development;
• Strong knowledge of trauma, grief and loss as it relates to combat-related physical and psychological injury and bereavement;
• Experience in developing training content and overseeing logistics planning;
• Strong training and consultation skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Excellent conceptual, written and oral skills;
• Ability to manage multiple tasks;
• Detail oriented;
• Effective time management skills;
• Ability to be flexible; and
• Ability to travel
Education -
Advanced degree required in social services or related field.
