North Bethesda health and human services consulting firm seeks a motivated individual to combine great visual design ideas and coding skills to create visual elements of the graphical user interface (GUI) for web applications in support of a large biomedical research firm. This position requires advanced demonstrated experience and skills in developing commercial quality user interfaces that are appealing, user friendly and 508 compliant.

This individual will perform the following duties: Perform complex analysis, design, development, testing and debugging of computer software. Works in a development team and completes various development tasks as directed by the project Team Lead. Works with the customers, Chief Architect, QA engineer, and IT Program Manager to develop and finalize assigned sections of the system document. Develops, unit tests, builds, packages, and manages code as specified. Keeps all project code, binaries, DDL, documentation, package, etc. in the source code control system and maintains versions and release levels. Works with the QA engineer to set up the Dev-QA process e.g. hand-over a release quality build to QA for testing and support QA in fixing/closing defect reports; monitor defects for patterns and advise developers/chief architect accordingly. Works with QA Engineer to create and maintain production environment. Responds to post-release (production) defects by fixes by delivering a patch or a new release which must tested by QA before it could go to production.

Minimum Experience/ Education Requirements: BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 7 years of intensive development experience. Experience with Web frameworks. Experience with persistence frameworks. Strong background and familiarity with legacy and new technologies – C/C++, Java, UNIX, Linux, C#.Net, Visual Studio, Windows Servers, DBMS (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc.), Source Code Control systems, Web Services, Service Oriented Architecture. Working knowledge of iterative SDLC and CMMI. Ability to work with the customers and efficiently conduct requirement analysis session. Ability to apply and use advanced technical knowledge in customer focused, quality-oriented environment. Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate complex issues and make oral presentations. Experience with application of government security requirements as well as OMB Section 508 requirements.
