Position Description
The selected employee for this position will be the Mechanical Hardware Task lead for design, development, test and shipboard integration of a major new Navy Electro-Optical subsystem.
The system contains three major subassemblies, each of which contains environmentally packaged embedded computer, electro-optic controller/processors to manage the functionality of the subsystem and interfaces to shipboard systems.
Each of the three have challenging mechanical structure, mounting and enclosure issues that must be solved.
The mechanical designs will be required to meet stringent reliability, safety and environmental requirements driven by the particular shipboard application of this system.
Experience
IPT Task leadership of a team of more than 5 engineers and technicians
Experience supervising other mechanical engineers and technicians
Experience developing mechanical hardware to a Requirements Specification Document
Experience leading the mechanical development of multiple assemblies at one time
Experience managing tasks to a strict schedule and budget
Experience designing mechanical systems to a strict weight budget
Experience creating and presenting Power Point Presentations at Reviews
Experience interfacing with Government customer representatives
Experience designing and developing mechanical hardware for shipboard environments
Experience designing for high shock and vibration environments
Experience selecting materials for corrosion prevention
Experience with computer aided design and documentation software tools
Experience with mechanical design and analysis software tools
Experience with procurement and tracking of mechanical hardware items
Experience with Micro Soft Office tools including Micro Soft Project
