Job Title	Educational Interpreter I/II
Job Description	Facilitates communications for deaf/hard-of-hearing students during the school day in academic and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications	High school graduation (bachelor’s degree preferred), plus national certification by Registry of Interpreter for the Deaf (RID) for sign language interpreters, or national certification by the Training, Evaluation, and Certification Unit (TECUnit) for cued language transliterators, or possession of Level I or higher of the Quality Assurance Screening awarded by the VA Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with demonstrated cueing or signing competencies. Comprehensive understanding of deaf culture. Knowledge of the Registry of Interpreter for the Deaf code of ethics and/or the Testing, Evaluation, and Certification Unit code of conduct. Skill in oral and written communications. Ability to maintain good working relationships with deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff and to maintain confidentiality.
