Position Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements World Languages curriculum through the development and delivery of unit plans and daily lessons
Monitors and evaluates student performance
Aligns daily instruction to written, taught, and assessed curriculum
Plans and prepares lessons. assignments and instructional materials
Establishes learning objectives consistent with the appraisal of student needs and the curriculum framework
Analyzes data to make sound instructional decisions
Uses current best practices in foreign language instruction
Provides strategies for differentiation for all students
Participates in ongoing job-embedded professional development
Establishes close and meaningful communication with parents, administrators, staff and students
Integrates technology into daily instruction
Incorporates AVID and AP strategies into daily instruction
Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement and maximizes student learning
Qualifications:
BA degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university
Holds or is eligible for a Maryland Standard Professional Certificate in specific language
Ability to work with diverse populations
Knowledge of school organization, goals, objectives, curriculum, teaching strategies, currents trends, research and instructional materials
Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community
Excellent oral and communication skills
Must be able to speak, read, write language fluently
