Staff position auditing hospital inpatient medical records according to specific client audit requirements. This requisition is a new position required to staff a long-term DRG audit contract within various states..
As part of the Ingenix Consulting DRG audit team, this position require experienced and fully certified HIM coding professional to audit hospital inpatient cases for compliance and reimbursement accuracy.

Conducts entrance conferences to align initial expectations and ensure that on-site work proceeds smoothly with a minimum of disruptions.

Prepares and presents preliminary findings to management as part of an exit conference.

Provides on-site education to coding staff.

Develops status and summary reports as necessary for client projects.

Acts as project manager for client projects, as appropriate.

Develops proposals and contracts as required for potential client projects.

Provides feedback to consulting team to enhance and improve consulting services.

Assists Ingenix Consulting management by providing regular project status reports and updates.

Develops and maintains client relationships.

Keeps up-to-date with regard to new governmental regulations related to compliance, HIPAA, and Medicare prospective payment systems.

Develops and maintains a working knowledge of basic Ingenix software products, including WinStrat, WebStrat, Audit Tool and Compliance Module, as well as other Ingenix software that relates to specific project requirements or opportunities.

Provides educational sessions to clients and professional organizations as may be required to promote Ingenix software and consulting services.

Builds and maintains relationships with appropriate Ingenix sales staff.

Initiate and/or participate in existing and new client sales opportunities.

Provides feedback on Ingenix products and market opportunities to product managers and developers that is generally considered to be timely.

Qualifications
Acceptable applicants are credentialed through AHIMA with any of the following certifications: RHIA, and/or CCS.
Minimum Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree Preferred. At least 3 years' experience in health information management and DRG/Hospital Audits.
This role requires 75% travel to the Hospital client sites. Assigments take an average of 1-2 weeks.
Demonstrated experience conducting inpatient hospital coding reviews. Comprehensive understanding of HIM operations and the relationship between HIM Departments and overall hospital revenue cycle management, especially those areas most affected by federal regulations pertaining to prospective payment systems, compliance, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) Act.
Self motivation, innovation, and ability to self manage is crucial to the position.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, such as Excel, Word and Power Point, in addition to basic computer and keyboarding skills.
The incumbent should also have a basic understanding of key healthcare management information systems and major HIM software packages.
