Position Description

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares the schedules that assist in monitoring tax compliance tests under Subchapter M of the IRC.
• Prepares the schedules that assist with monitoring capital gain status of the funds and monitoring wash sales.
• Prepares the schedules for use by the independent CPAs in preparation of required tax returns.
• Calculates tax reporting data for inclusion in the year-end tax information to shareholders.
• Reviews and adjusts quarterly appraisal reports and tax lot holdings reports as prepared by the third party accounting agent.
• Prepares the draft of ROCSOP adjustments and tax footnotes required in regulatory filings (Annual and Semi-Annual financial reports to shareholders and the SEC’s Form N-Q’s). .
• Prepares and recommends required monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual dividend distributions for all funds, including calculation of regular dividends and short and long-term gains.
• Maintains permanent file schedules of tax loss carryforwards for all sponsored mutual funds.
• Prepares deliverables for fund audits. Responds to auditors’ questions during the examination.
• Analyzes wash sales reports and capital gains reports for book/tax discrepancies.
• Assists in the calculation and 1099 reporting of distributions from the mutual funds.
• Assists in the preparation of the shareholders’ tax letters.
• Calculates monthly AMT and US Government percentages in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Maintains data reports providing market discounts and OID for tax-exempt securities.
• Calculates and monitors compliance with IRC Section 382 with respect to built-in losses.
• Performs research and analysis on tax issues and various special projects.
• Supports the Fund Administration Department when necessary.
• Completes other departmental duties as assigned

SKILLS

• 5 – 7 years of general tax experience; preferably with regulated investment companies.
• Bachelors degree required; accounting or law degree preferred, CPA/Graduate degree in tax a plus.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with PC spreadsheets and word processing, MS Excel, MS Word.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within time requirements
