The Academy of Hope provides educational empowerment to DC adults. We help students earn high school credentials, improve their math and reading skills, and learn how to use and apply computer technologies.

Employment opportunity means economic self-sufficiency and independence. AAPD is committed to improving employment outcomes for the many people with disabilities who are not working but are ready, willing and able to work. We promote legislation and policy that promotes opportunities for people with disabilities, partner with employers to improve business practices and develop mentoring programs, and offer career opportunities to students and recent graduates with disabilities.

The mission of Best Buddies is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

ADAPT is a national grass-roots community that organizes disability rights activists to engage in nonviolent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil and human rights of people with disabilities to live in freedom.

Chimes, its affiliates, and related organizations are acknowledged as international leaders in providing services, supports and employment for people with disabilities. Since 1900, Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind has been dedicated to helping the blind or visually impaired population of the greater Washington region overcome the challenges of vision loss. Our work enables people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired to remain independent, active and productive in society. Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind’s (CLB) programs and services include training and consultation in assistive technology, employment marketing skills training, career placement services, comprehensive low vision care, and a wide range of counseling and rehabilitation services.

The Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities is a coalition of approximately 100 national disability organizations working together to advocate for national public policy that ensures the self determination, independence, empowerment, integration and inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in all aspects of society.

Creative Options & Employment, Inc. (COE) is a one stop Non-Profit community-based person-centered organization that is established to assist in eliminating employment barriers, enhance marketable skills, provide person-centered planning, foster community inclusion and develop the necessary supports to maintain individual career and personal goals.

The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) was created to develop "Jobs for People and People for Jobs." DOES provides job seekers with a number of employment opportunities through its DC Works! Career Centers. Each center provides career counseling, career planning, resume assistance, direct job placement, classroom and on-the-job training, access to America's Job Bank (both online and via telephone), information about local and national labor markets, unemployment compensation and much more.
