ACTS provides relief, fosters hope and promotes self-sufficiency for our Prince William area neighbors in crises due to hunger, homelessness and personal violence.

Midwives are primary health care providers to women throughout the lifespan. This means that midwives perform physical exams, prescribe medications including contraceptive methods, order laboratory tests as needed, provide prenatal care, gynecological care, labor and birth care, as well as health education and counseling to women of all ages. Women, children, and families have better lives because of the work of certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) and certified midwives (CMs). The American College of Nurse-Midwives is the professional association that represents CNMs and CMs.

Asha means “hope” in several South Asian languages. For hundreds of women, ASHA for Women means hope through empowerment. ASHA for Women (ASHA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing community-based, culturally competent support to South Asian women living in abusive marriages and homes. One of the first South Asian domestic violence prevention organizations formed in the United States, ASHA has been serving the legal, financial, and emotional needs of South Asian women in the Washington, D.C. metro area for 20 years.

The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP) is dedicated to improving reproductive health care through its high-quality continuing medical education (CME) activities.

Our mission is to improve and promote the health of women and newborns and to strengthen the nursing profession through the delivery of superior advocacy, research, education and other professional and clinical resources to nurses and other health care professional.

Fairfax County has six emergency shelters for individuals and families who are homeless. These shelters are operated by community nonprofit organizations under contract with the county. The shelters have additional capacity during winter months to take in people overnight who are at risk of hypothermia.

Bethany House of Northern Virginia, Inc. (Bethany House) is a private, 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Bethany House is sponsored by grants and tax-deductible donations from individuals, various congregations, community organizations, clubs and businesses. It has been an established community partner since 1979. Bethany House is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the 501(c)3 guidelines of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.

Through the establishment of social priorities (an agenda), BWA facilitates discussions that lead to effective policies and meaningful change. Their continuous vigilance on issues affecting Black women worldwide empower women to step up and mitigate the gender gaps that affect women in our society.

Black Women United for Action (BWUFA) is a diverse, volunteer, non-profit community service organization whose mission is to advocate the concerns of women and improve the lives of impoverished, vulnerable families through a self-sufficiency/empowerment approach. By utilizing combined talents, BWUFA seeks to provide a variety of community programs and support services, through a grassroots “hands-on” method, to create positive change.

Community Bridges empowers diverse girls to become exceptional students, positive leaders, and healthy young women.

DCCADV’s mission is to build a community where domestic violence is replaced with human dignity. We advance our mission through advocacy, community education, public policy, technical assistance and training, resource sharing and research.
