As the Senior Advisor, Gender-based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response, at Save the Children US (SCUS), you will shape and advance Save the Children's efforts to address GBV through a lens of decoloniality and social justice. You will drive technical excellence, programmatic innovation, and impactful partnerships to create lasting change. Anchored within the Gender Equality and Social Justice team, you will provide leadership to the SCUS GBV Taskforce to ensure integration of best practices and evidence approaches across Save the Children's thematic areas, such as health, livelihoods, education, child protection, ensuring a holistic approach to addressing GBV. You will drive program development to secure resources in support of GBV prevention and response globally. You will spearhead the identification and development of strategic partnerships at global, national and grassroots levels, fostering collaborations that amplify the impact of GBV prevention and response efforts. You will also play a leadership role in fostering research and learning related to GBV prevention and response.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Technical Leadership (50%)

  • Serve as SCUS' senior technical expert on GBV prevention and response, ensuring integration of best-practices and evidence-based approaches.
  • Provide leadership to the SCUS GBV taskforce, fostering culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and learning.
  • Lead integration of GBV prevention and response strategies across thematic areas, including but not limited to health, livelihoods, child protection, education, etc.
  • Lead the identification and development of strategic partnerships with global, national and grassroots organizations.

Program Development & Resource Mobilization (30%)

  • Spearhead efforts to mobilize resources for the development of a robust GBV program portfolio, leveraging your experience and networks to secure funding from diverse sources.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the development of proposals to US government, foundations, and private donors.

Research and Learning (20%)

  • Facilitate learning events related to GBV prevention and response fostering dialogue, knowledge generation and exchange across the organization,
  • Support the development and implementation of GBV-related research and data collection, including the development of GBV research guidance and ethics review processes to ensure rigor.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, social anthropology, law and women's rights, sociology, gender, cultural studies or related field or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Track record of technical leadership and coordinating diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding and application of GBV prevention and response strategies; intersection of violence against children and violence against women; tech-facilitated GBV; child, early and forced marriage and unions; female genital mutilation/cutting; intersectional gender and power analysis.
  • Strong networks within the academic and programmatic GBV and gender equality communities of practice.
  • Experience developing successful funding applications from US government, multilaterals, foundations, and private donors.
  • Record of facilitating change through influencing, inspiring, and mobilizing others.
  • Experience providing technical support and utilizing formal and informal adult education methods in developing and facilitating learning events to a range of audiences.
  • Commitment to feminist principles of social justice and decolonization of aid.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Empathy and positive interpersonal skills, including cultural competence.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in relevant studies or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in addressing gender and social equality in the context of child rights.
  • Experience serving as the gender/GBV technical lead on US government funding proposals.
  • In-depth understanding of GBV within development, nexus, and humanitarian contexts, with substantial experience in development settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in policy dialogue.
  • Proficiency in French, Spanish, and/or Arabic.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $108,800 - $121,600 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $98,600 - $110,200 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $88,400 - $98,800 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
