POSITION CLASSIFICATION
For Our Future recognizes a staff bargaining unit, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 2304, a labor union. This position is NOT included in the For Our Future bargaining unit.

JOB SUMMARY
For Our Future and For Our Future Action Fund seek a National Deputy Organizing Director to support organizing program development in several key battleground states. The National Deputy Organizing Director will support and coach statewide Organizing Directors, develop and steer national organizing program priorities, and collaborate with HQ Staff to support states organizing programming. The Deputy National Organizing Director will report to the National Organizing Director.

This is a full-time position through at least November 28, 2024.
Essential Functions
    • Develop and steer national organizing programs, including but not limited to canvassing, phones, volunteer recruitment and org building tactics, SMS/texting, digital organizing and training.
    • Represent the campaigns department at ally and partner events, training, and meetings when needed.
    • Monitor national organizing metrics, developing strong organizational systems and structures, and collaborate with Statewide Organizing Directors to overcome challenges.
    • Distill large national data reports into actionable daily summaries for states and national leadership.
    • Facilitate inter-departmental collaboration to support states organizing programs.
    • Assist with training and staff development, including leading the implementation of training materials in states
    • Track grants for statewide organizing programs and ensuring required reporting is accurate and timely.
    • Assist with staff recruitment, hiring, and onboarding in states.
    • Work with national leadership and state organizing departments on communication of priorities and directives, as well as best practices and challenges in states.
    • Travel to FOF states for hands-on coaching and training as needed.
    • Work with National Organizing Director on other program tasks as assigned
    • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Skills and Qualifications
    • At least three cycles of competitive campaign or political experience.
    • Experience in supporting effective canvass programs, phone banking, SMS, volunteer engagement, relational organizing, and other digital and distributed organizing programs.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments in HQ and state teams.
    • Strong knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN, and experience and comfort working in a data-driven organization.
    • Strong knowledge of Google Suite, computer literacy, and database skills.
    • Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment.
    • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects.
    • Ability to work both independently and in team settings.
    • Strong interpersonal communications skills, including the ability to successfully relate to staff from a wide range of backgrounds.
    • Experience working with labor and community-led organizations a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities
    • This position may include supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
    • This is a remote position and will require occasional travel to states and a physical presence in a local office
    • Prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to travel to FOF states (MI, NV, PA, and WI) as needed for training and program implementation purposes.

Expected Hours of Work
    • Normal hours of business are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time Monday thru Friday, however, employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights.
    • Employees are required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle or other key deadlines, and generally not allowed to take off during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.
$74,000 - $95,000 a year
Work Environment
Door-to-door canvassing and site-based events / training are an essential function of the work our organization does and are considered a high priority. Employees may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position may at times interact face-to-face with state staff, volunteers, or community partners. If state and government stay-at-home orders, phased reopening orders, or other factors related to the COVID-19 virus (or any other reason) limit For Our Future's ability to engage safely in in-person work, employees may be assigned other duties to be conducted from their homes.
