Description

HawkEye 360 is currently seeking an Associate Satellite Operations Engineer to join the System Operations team, a group of passionate engineers dedicated to maximizing the performance and quality of the end-to-end HE360 system, including the constellation of LEO satellites and the ground station network. The Engineer will work on critical operations tasks, including health checks of satellites/payloads/ground stations, troubleshooting and anomaly resolution, and validation of new infrastructure and capabilities as they reach operations.

This position requires participation in an on-call rotation with the Engineer taking responsibility for responding to alerts and taking action in the case of an anomaly. Rotations cover time outside of the typical work week, to include weekends and holidays, in exchange for days off and/or other incentives. This position is also open for applicants that are interested in having a permanent non-standard work week, specifics can be discussed with the hiring manager.

HawkEye 360 is looking for a candidate with good problem-solving skills, who is creative and has a passion for working with and developing new innovative technology for the space industry.

Location: Our offices are in Herndon, VA. This position is also available for remote employees working in the United States, with a preference for Pacific or Hawaii Time Zone work schedules.

As the Associate Satellite Operations Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
  • Work under the guidance of experienced engineers to gain skills and knowledge in space operations
  • Assist mission planning and mission operations using our existing command and control software, including anomaly detection and resolution
  • Assist with debugging existing command and control applications and ground station infrastructure when issues arise
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance of satellite operations
  • Assist payload and satellite operations testing prior to launch
  • Write automation for common anomalies and procedures
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential education and experience:
  • 1+ year professional work experience
  • Bachelor's in engineering or physical science-related fields; or equivalent experience
  • A passion for completing a job well - attention to detail
  • A tenacity for taking initiative and ownership of projects
  • An aptitude for curiosity and always seeking to improve their skills
  • A good attitude and team-oriented spirit
Desirable:
  • Experience with orbital mechanics and systems engineering
  • Experience with programming and data visualization projects
  • Experience with version control such as git
  • Experience with technical writing and documentation
  • Experience with Linux, Python, Java
Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 annually

HawkEye 360 offers a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate's work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations.
