Job Description

RK&K is hiring a passionate Project Engineer III with a focus in water distribution / sewer collection to join our utilities team in Raleigh, NC. As a Project Engineer III with our utilities team, you will design and manage plan development for the relocation of water and sanitary sewer facilities impacted by roadway projects throughout North Carolina.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare plans, specifications and estimates for water and sanitary sewer relocations due to impacts from NCDOT and Municipal projects
  • Analyze existing water and sanitary sewer facilities for conflicts with proposed roadway, drainage, traffic control and structure designs. Coordinate with other design disciplines to eliminate conflicts when possible
  • Assist with the preparation and review of environmental impacts and permitting requirements and construction permit applications, reports and drawings
  • Coordinate with in house disciplines on Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build transportation projects to deliver wholistic efficient designs
  • Provide technical marketing support during procurement of key projects as requested
  • Occasional field investigations and meetings required
  • Assist in the guidance of entry level utility engineers

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Seven (7) + years of Utilities Design and Engineering supporting transportation and/or water/wastewater Municipal projects
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related (STEM)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of NC
  • Microstation or AutoCad experience is required
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team but the initiative to work individually and take on additional projects as needed
  • Excellent customer service, communication and presentation skills are required

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Experience with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) design projects
  • Microstation , GeoPak , Civil 3D
