DESCRIPTION

As part of the VCHS Business Intelligence team, the Project Manager will manage multiple technical projects for Health Sciences-wide business intelligence operations, which supports multiple operational units for HS administration (Finance, Research, Academic, Space, Strategy, and Administrative Units). This position will work on a selection of projects across the realms of academic and business systems, and large-scale administrative systems and efforts.

Involves managing technical projects having a defined beginning and end. Applies standard Project Management framework processes and methodologies to lean project efforts involving departmental or cross-functional teams. Plans, coordinates and monitors scope, requirements, schedules, budgets, resources, tasks, risks, staff and deliverables. Monitors the project from initiation through completion. Organizes and leads activities relating to the management and completion of projects.

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced technical project management professional with a full understanding of project management frameworks and methods, relevant policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues. Demonstrates competency in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Manages projects of diverse scope, size, impact, budget and / or project team size.

Additionally, applies advanced business process and analysis concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. Perform other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

  • Requires effective communication and organization skills.

  • Requires basic knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Requires ability to assess campus, medical center or Office of the President needs for information technology products and design services to meet those needs.

  • Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.

  • Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks.

  • Demonstrated advanced organization and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated effective writing skills.

  • Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques.

  • Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.

  • Knowledge of most aspects of computing and communications including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations and disaster recovery.

  • Proven leadership ability. Effective problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments.

  • Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress.

  • Demonstrates skill consulting to managers and groups at all levels. Ability to facilitate and create consensus based solutions to complex issues while working with all levels of campus administration, academic organizations, and departments.

  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various organizational levels. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with technical and non-technical personnel at various organizational levels.

  • Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.

  • In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

  • Experience developing Gantt charts, project timelines, and budgets.

  • Experienced in managing database and business intelligence projects.

  • Knowledge of BI tools (e.g., Cognos, Tableau, etc.).

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a remote work environment.

  • Meeting facilitation skills, including ability to clarify complex ideas and broker consensus among disparate stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Monday.com, MS Project, etc.).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • PMP Certification preferred.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.73 - $81.75

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
