Position description

Junior Research Specialist - Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (Jiam Lab)

The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is seeking a Junior Research Specialist. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research and professional activities, and do not have teaching responsibility. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions and may participate in University and Public Service. Candidates interested in working in the lab for at least two years are preferred.

Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess a bachelor's degree preferable in a scientific discipline or at least four years of research experience, by the time of hire. Applicant's materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.

Our laboratory studies hearing in humans and computational science. The ideal candidate will have prior research experience in biological/biomedical sciences or related fields, especially related to hearing, deafness, cochlear implantation, computer science, and auditory development. Job duties include database management, IRB compliance, subject tracking, data analysis, and subject recruitment and stewardship. Prior experience with statistical analysis and manuscript writing is preferable as well. Finally, this position is best suited for someone with enthusiasm for research and translating research findings into clinical applications.
