Responsibilities

Join our Software Development team in Santa Clara, CA and support exciting projects across Peraton's Defense Mission Systems sector in areas such as communications, cybersecurity, mission planning and command and control.

Peraton is hiring a Systems Engineer focusing on applications supporting the Tomahawk Weapon System (TWS), as well as other military projects. This is a hybrid position (Typical week is 3 days remote / 2 days onsite). Worksite is in Santa Clara, CA.

What you'll do:

    Ensure accurate translation of high-level mission CONOPS into system-level requirements; develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
  • System requirements analysis, generation of requirement specifications and compliance tracking
  • Interact with customers on technical matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines.
  • Communicate progress, status, briefings, and tasking to customers and team.
  • Lead the design and definition of system functionality and component interfaces.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, and charts.
  • Attend relevant component readiness reviews and testing milestones and provide recommendations to customer management.
  • Conduct Integration Testing to ensure system behavior meets customer expectations and requirements
Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • Education: 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes.
  • Applied knowledge of the systems development life cycle, including requirements analysis, documentation development, control gates, and system verification.
  • Ability to work within and across multi-discipline teams to ensure interfaces are thoroughly defined, properly designed, and correctly implemented.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team in pursuit of organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, and ability to brief complex technical information to non-experts.

Desired Experience:

  • Prior military background and/or experience working on Department of Defense led software projects.
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and concepts (i.e. Cameo) and familiarization of the DoDAF Viewpoints and Models.
  • Familiarity working in an Agile development environment adhering to SafeAgile principles.
  • Experience with software development management tools (JIRA, AzureDevOps, etc.)

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
