Responsibilities

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE-approved and certified facility.

Position Scope: Supervises Accounting Staff to maintain high standards of quality in accordance with facility policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations and Joint guidelines.

Essential Functions:
  • Improve the profitability of the hospital. Continually monitor costs in all areas, especially staffing as it relates to patient volume.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (to include entering all standard journal entries), financial packages, reports/analysis
  • Provide reconciliations, account analysis, and other information for Reimbursement Department, Tax Department, Auditors, etc., to aid in preparation of reports.
  • Ensures adequate documentation exists to support all accounting transactions. .
  • Assists CFO in monitoring and controlling accounts receivables to ensure net revenue is properly stated.
  • Develop and monitor policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced hospital operating costs, and increased revenues.
  • Prepare annual budget in conjunction with UHS standards. In cooperation with management and department heads, reviews prior financial results and discusses anticipated changes to highlight future needs and trends of the facility.
  • Performs special projects as assigned by CFO and CEO.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Undergraduate or associates degree in Accounting. Three or more years accounting experience, including supervisory experience; public accounting or health care experience as an Assistant Controller preferred. Must possess knowledge of all accounting applications, data processing functions and internal control requirements for accounting department. Must possess knowledge of and ability to operate computerized financial accounting software, personal computer, Microsoft Excel, ten key calculator, typewriter, telephone, copier. Must possess written and oral communication skills.
