Job Description
Job Objective: Responsible for the strategy, management and administration of JDH Capital Portfolio Companies' benefits programs. Ensures programs are aligned with the overall JDH Capital business strategy, competitive in various industries, equitable, and in compliance federal, state and local government regulations. Manages the administration of the JDH Capital benefit plans including health and welfare, 401k, and voluntary benefits and administers long-term incentives compensation programs for executives. Additionally, responsible for the coordination of Harvest Midstream Company's benefits programs in tandem with Hilcorp Energy Company.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

JDH Capital and its Portfolio Companies

  • Accountable for the administration of benefit plans, including the management of third-party vendors, consultants and brokers
  • Oversees employee benefits programs including retirement medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance and others, which includes planning and directing the overall design, implementation, communication and administration
  • Accountable for and leads the transition of benefits during acquisitions and divestitures of future Portfolio Companies
  • Creates proposals for the annual benefits renewal and budget, presents them to JDH Capital executive leadership, and oversees the allocation of approved resources
  • Advises and counsels JDH Capital management and local Portfolio Companies' HR on existing benefits
  • Serves as a primary contact for the JDH Capital team, internal customers, insurance vendors and/or third party administrators
  • Coordinates communication with the various Portfolio Companies' HR teams to effectively manage benefit programs
  • Ensures participation in relevant industry surveys, analyzes results of the surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by JDH Capital management
  • Facilitates and coordinates Open Enrollment for JDH Capital Portfolio Companies
  • Evaluates and ensures programs adhere to current regulations and support strategic objectives, while maintaining competitiveness with the markets
  • Works closely with Hilcorp benefits team as it relates to all aspects of compliance testing
  • Handles issues with employees and ensures benefit inquiries and complaints are handled quickly, equitably, and courteously
  • Oversees communication materials, booklets, employee meetings and other media for communicating new plans and changes to employees as needed.
  • Maintains relationships with external benefits providers, consultants, brokers, and auditors
  • Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies
  • Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to implement changes in benefit program and ensures prompt and accurate compliance
  • Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
  • Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies
  • Organizes benefits needs assessments (as needed), analyzes results, and develops various employee benefits programs, such as retirement plans, life insurance, medical insurance, etc.
  • Communicates and negotiates with various benefits providers to identify vendors and benefits packages that meet the organization's needs
  • Develops cost information for new plans and makes recommendations concerning sharing of cost between employer and employee
  • Attends and participates in the 401K Committee Meetings as a representative for JDH Capital
  • Performs long-term incentive compensation calculations for Portfolio Company executives
  • Compiles Portfolio Companies executive compensation data and prepares analysis for annual discussion with JDH Capital management team

Harvest Midstream Company

  • Facilitates Open Enrollment for Harvest Midstream Company employees, coordinating with their HR team
  • Oversees communication materials, booklets, employee meetings and other media for communicating new plans and changes to Harvest Midstream employees as needed
  • Liaises with Harvest Midstream's HR as the main point of contact for benefits
  • Travels periodically (up to 10%), on an as needed basis, to various locations across the USA
  • Supports company vision and mission and adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings

Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years minimum benefits experience in stand-alone organization of 500 employees or greater
  • Expert knowledge of modern theory, principles, and practices of health and welfare plans and retirement plans
  • Possesses a superior technical knowledge of the workings of health and welfare plans as well as retirement plans, including plan documents, summary plan descriptions and other insurance mechanisms
  • Works efficiently to produce quality materials with meticulous attention to detail
  • Makes sound decisions quickly and is able to articulate reasoning to various employee levels
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, and administer benefit programs and systems
  • Strong customer service orientation with ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and other departments
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities without close supervision
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding management, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Required: Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, human resources or related field from an accredited four-year university or college
  • Preferred: Master's degree

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CEBS or CBP preferred
