A Maintenance Technician IV's Day is filled with a variety of tasks aimed at keeping a manufacturing facility running smoothly. They start their day by checking the condition of the equipment used in production. This involves maintenance, calibration, and sometimes repairing or replacing parts. They work with a range of systems, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic ones.

Their expertise isn't limited to one area; they might have experience in electrical or mechanical fields, or even both. They're familiar with building automation systems and monitoring systems and having experience with programmable logic is a bonus. They work with various utilities like clean dry air, nitrogen, chilled water, and more.

The Maintenance Tech IV's goal is to ensure everything is energy-efficient and safe, and to keep downtime to a minimum. They do this by anticipating necessary repairs and keeping accurate records. They're problem solvers, tackling anything from simple to moderately complex issues, and they use their experience to improve the performance of equipment and systems.

They report to the Senior Facilities Engineer and represent the services and operations of systems during audits and inspections. Their responsibilities include executing maintenance activities, ordering parts, installing new equipment, and managing spare parts inventory. They also troubleshoot utilities, maintain diagnostic tools, and oversee preventative maintenance of power systems.

In addition to these tasks, they assist other team members, perform facility maintenance, document readings on equipment logs, and understand and utilize technical systems documentation. They also support documentation with appropriate data, assist with technical investigations, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards. Lastly, they oversee work performed by outside contractors, always prioritizing quality.

In short, a Maintenance Tech IV's Day is busy and varied, but their work is crucial to the smooth operation of the facility. They're a key player in the manufacturing process, using their skills and knowledge to keep everything running as it should.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Execute maintenance activities by Bio-Rad 's policies and procedures, including coordinating events with minimum disruption of facilities services.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, order parts and equipment required for repair, install new equipment, and support spare parts inventory management.
  • Troubleshoot utilities serving production and support equipment when necessary. Ensure all electrical installations are installed and maintained in accordance with NPFA 70E and 70B, NEC, and IEEE. Ensure that all mechanical facilities are adequately secured, labeled, documented, and meet GMP clean service requirements.
  • Maintain electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic diagnostic tools and equipment in safe operating conditions.
  • Perform or oversee preventative maintenance of UPS and emergency electrical power systems.
  • Assist Facilities Engineer or Maintenance Team Members with protecting and improving the value of assets and ensuring that engineering systems continue to perform their intended function.
  • Perform facility maintenance with minimal disruption and adequate cleanup, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, and millwright.
  • Perform daily rounds and document readings on equipment logs and checklists.

What You Bring:

  • Education: AA/AS in an electrical or mechanical field is preferred.
  • Work Experience: Must possess 2 to 5 years of technical experience in a Food or GMP manufacturing environment. Strong background in technical aspects of machinery repair and maintenance.
  • Must be proficient in using computers & software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer, etc. Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, CMMS experience is preferred, with AMMS experience is a plus.
  • Needs to be capable of clear communication with maintenance team, contractors, and inspectors. Should be able to focused on achieving positive results, even in stressful situations. It's crucial to have good interpersonal skills, follow up on tasks diligently, and possess strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and utility systems, with experience maintaining and improving methods for uptime and reliability.

Compensation: The estimated hourly range for this position is $36.63 to $50.43 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
