Education:
Bachelors or master's degree in Social Work or related social sciences field.
Licensures/Certifications:
For social workers, licensure is required or license eligible (license must be obtained 6 months from hire).
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years managerial or related work experience with volunteers

* Advanced knowledge of hospice philosophy, volunteerism and volunteer administration
* Strong communication skills-written and verbal

* Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft, database management, and excel

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manages the Volunteer Services Department. Hires, orients, supervises, evaluates and motivates department employed staff to meet department goals. Ensures all department employed staff maintain compliance with organization and regulatory agency mandatory requirements.
* Implement new and innovated programs for appropriate use of volunteers to enhance what Gilchrist Services provides.
* In conjunction with the volunteer coordinator -recruit, screens, interviews, places, orients, evaluates, and motivates volunteers to meet organization goals. Ensures all active volunteers maintain compliance with organization and regulatory agency mandatory requirements.
* In Conjunction with the volunteer coordinator Evaluate volunteers' performances and the effectiveness of the program to meet the needs of the volunteers through the annual review of volunteer services as required by regulatory and CHAPS guidelines
* Oversees monthly and annual documentation of cost savings by volunteers. Maintains 5% or better of volunteer hours of direct patient care per Medicare requirements.
* Collaborates with the GBMC Volunteer office in planning appreciation events and other joint activities
* Works within the guidelines of organization operating budget.
* Ensures all active volunteers maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements to include annual in-service requirements along with developing continuing education programs throughout the year Ensures timely documentation of volunteer patient care in the patient record.
* Develops, implements and ensures volunteer support to promote achievement of organizational short and long term strategic goals.
* Ensures volunteers are briefed, schedules communicated, and debriefed relative to their assignments. Monitors, investigates and responds to volunteer feedback.
* Develops and implements programs to recognize individual volunteers and staff for their contributions and achievements.
* Oversees student internship program
* Oversees staff/volunteer involvement in quality control and improvement efforts (lean events) and general safety.
