People & HR Events Specialist
Who You'll Work With
You will work with a team of Bay Area colleagues to deliver on multifaceted activities to bring our location colleagues together in all aspects of internal engagement, from leadership meetings, to connectivity events, Values Day, Day of Service, Partner events, and more. You will work closely with the Office Managing Partner and the Manager of Strategy & Operations. You will lead the charge in designing and executing the key moments that bring our colleagues together. Working closely with senior leaders, you'll "own" a variety of internal events from vision and logistics through communications, execution and follow-up for the colleagues in the Bay Area.
You will amplify our Bay Area's office's ideas throughout our North America offices, and you'll be on the leading edge of our efforts to experiment and innovate with a variety of engagement approaches to create distinctive impact.
This is a fast-paced, high-stakes environment in which you'll demonstrate proactive strategic thinking and creative problem-solving while balancing a variety of tasks on deadline. You'll have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. Our events colleagues work closely with our centralized Optimize Events function and receive frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues on their local teams.
What You'll Do
You will act as a strategic advisor in close collaboration with the Office Managing Partner and key Bay Area Leaders and stakeholders to shape and design and execute on the local strategy and vision for colleague connectivity and engagement.
You will collaborate with the Manager of Strategy & Ops for development, oversight and management of the office budget and responsibility for reporting to OMP Provides expertise and counsels office leadership to establish and ensure compliance with event guidelines.
You will serve as the primary leader of high-touch, high-level tailored internal/external events and conferences across the office; provide expertise, advice and leadership to event leaders and teams on all aspects of an event life cycle, including communications.
You will have the opportunity to lead the design and execution of large office-wide marquee events throughout the year, such as Partner Meetings and Offsites, Office Retreats, Values Day, Day of Service, Holiday parties, Alumni events, etc.
You will own office connectivity including office socials and happy hours, summer picnics, small group dinners, interest groups, Super Fridays, Day of Pink, etc.
You will develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure excellent service and value-oriented contracts.
You will collaborate with other cells to create synergies, leverage resources, determine proper level of services for efficiency.
You will develop strategies (including performance standards and metrics) to continually improve design and delivery of events and conferences.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional event design and execution skills, with an ability to use events to tell compelling stories
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills; ability to execute with speed, high level of accuracy and efficiency, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Experience and proven capability in operations and creative engagement
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, and a track record of working effectively and forming peer-level relationships with senior leaders
  • Creative problem-solving skills, sound judgment and ability to thrive in high-stakes situations by projecting confidence and authority to senior business leaders
  • Skill in delegation and managing multiple projects simultaneously

A reasonable estimate of the range for new joiners for this role in the United States is $112,800 - $155,100. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual's assigned office location, experience and expertise. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinseyis discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
