Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures.
Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood and blood products transport, and inventory management. Cross trains to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary and CNA (certified nursing assistant)..
This position provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSActive California CNA license.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Proven ability to observe deviations from normal.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
Two (2+) or more years of CNA experience in an acute care setting.
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training and/or de-escalation training and experience.
Previous video monitoring experience and/or Avasure telesiting program.
EPIC, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.
Bilingual: Spanish/English.

Annual Full Pay Range: $47,878 - $59,487 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $22.93 - $28.49
