What You Will Do:

Position Impact

Our Baltimore, MD office is currently looking for a highly motivated Transportation Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate should have 3-7 years of related experience along with a BSCE, who is highly proactive, has excellent technical writing skills, and has familiarity with transportation planning and engineering design. Prior experience as a CADD designer or Project Engineer on Transportation projects highly desired, but not expected. This position also requires technical design background in at least one of the following areas: highway design, traffic engineering, as well as familiarity with MDSHA, AASHTO and MUTCD standards. Experience using CADD/Design Software (MicroStation and/or AutoCad Civil 3D) required!

Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway/traffic projects from preliminary to final design under direction and supervision by a Professional Engineer
  • Primarily responsible for learning practical application of engineering principles
  • Utilize the latest design modeling CADD software
  • Assist in design and development of design elements and studies for projects within the transportation group
  • Performs various engineering-related calculations and analysis of limited scope
  • Assist in the development and review of construction documents to include plans, specifications, and quantity estimates
  • Performs field investigations as required - requires a willingness to travel periodically
  • Performs various simulation tasks including traffic operations and design of infrastructure improvements including grading
  • Conducts technical report writing and production
  • Conducts data analysis and spreadsheet analysis
  • Assist in the review of technical reports and data analysis
Education | Experience:

The Qualifications You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
  • 3-7 years' experience working in Highway/Roadway design. Design experience should include familiarity with roadway, drainage and traffic elements, with the ability to assist in the development of construction documents
  • Engineer in Training (EIT); PE preferred
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Experience working with MDSHA, federal and local governments preferred
  • Experience with MicroStation, GeoPak, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ProjectWise and Microsoft Office

Preference given to those possessing any of the following Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with MicroStation and GeoPak
  • Typical Sections, Drainage Design, Construction Staging/ Maintenance of Traffic
  • Traffic Signal, Signage and Marking Design
  • Basic knowledge of site design elements and standards
