Court Liaison and Administrative Assistant

BASIC FUNCTION:
Maintain tracking log of all involuntary/ court ordered patients admitted to PIW.
Collect necessary paperwork for all involuntary patients
Maintain daily contact with OAG confirming all paperwork is correct for filing and submission
Monitoring OAG/Admissions Log for updates regarding due dates of legal paperwork
Assist with court reports for PIW patients in conjunction with the Physicians and Department of Social Services.
Send Involuntary Log to Office of Attorney General before the end of every business day
Notify doctors of any Commitment or Probable Cause Hearings
Copy medical records chart in preparation of hearings or at the request of patient attorney
Assist with process for Involuntary Medication Panel
Assist with all other legal tasks as needed
Communicate with patient's lawyer of any legal status changes
Assist with patient's access to speak to their attorney privately and confidentially (in person, zoom, or telephone)
Administrative Assistant support to the Director of Clinical Services including assistance with special projects, filing documents, organizing unit activities and programming.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of mental health issues and the treatments for mental illness, especially as it related to the DC Commitment process for patients admitted on FD12 status.
Exemplary English language writing skills and strong communication skills
Use of business software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work with diverse multi-disciplinary teams and legal components
Service Excellence with customer service for community stakeholders at organizations such as OAG, PDS, and DC Superior Courts
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
One year of experience in the mental health profession preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review all new admissions and identify those noted as legally FD12 or involuntary status on admission report (midas)
Notify Physicians and prepare court related documentation in compliance with filing deadlines
Coordinate and track timelines and activities necessary to complete court reports
Collaborate with treatment team and physician as necessary to complete court reports
Update and maintain court ordered patient tracking log for OAG and DBH
Communicate with the Court, Public Defenders office and other involved parties
Arrange safe tele-video process for Public Defenders access to patients and for Court hearings.
Provide court report to the court and other involved parties in a timely manner
Prepare auxiliary letters, notices, and materials as needed
Produce monthly quality report of Fd12s and Involuntary patients as requested
