Job Description

Sr. Product Development Engineer

Onsite with future flexibility of hybrid schedule

Responsible for researching, designing, testing, and qualifying electro-optic circuit pack assemblies for production. Provides support for optical equipment including amplifiers and telemetry gear. Requires knowledge of fiber optic components, optics, and testing methods.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of optical design experience, 10+ years preferred.
  • Deep understanding of fiber optics, electro-optic equipment, and communication systems.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic components and optical connectors.
  • Laboratory experience and the ability to build, test, and debug new optical designs.
  • Use of C/C++, Matlab, LabView, LabWindows/CVI, and TestStand.
  • Develop software interfaces for automated test equipment and debugging complex test systems.
  • Develop test control GUIs in windows and/or Linux environments
  • Familiarity with Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs).
  • Capable of assembling fiber optic modules using standard techniques.
  • Ability to test new designs and analyze measurement data.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing test procedures and transferring designs to manufacturing.
  • Strong communication, presentation, planning, and organization skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in product requirement and design reviews.
  • Develop new electro-optic modules and optical amplifiers.
  • Simulate electro-optic performance using optical modeling tools.
  • Specify components, negotiate with suppliers, and characterize fiber optic components.
  • Plan and complete design verification and environmental qualification test regimes.
  • Analyze and present test data to validate optical module performance.
  • Create manufacturing test requirements and transfer newly designed modules to manufacturing.
  • Support manufacturing and provide field support for modules.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expected travel between locations in Portsmouth, NH, and Eatontown, NJ.

Comments:

  • Relocation assistance can be provided if required
  • Salary is between $125K - $140K with 6% bonus
