Job Description
Senior Development Officer
Reporting to the Director, Individual Giving the Senior Development Officer, will be responsible for developing both the strategy and the portfolio required to identify, close, and retain high-level (Major) gift relationships with individuals, and for meeting a $1,000,000+ annual revenue goal.

Our ideal candidate is able to establish strategies and systems focused on closing 5+ figure gifts from high net-worth individuals, has an understanding of the donor moves management circle and to work with a portfolio of qualified prospects and donors, has analytical skills to provide accurate pipeline reports and revenue forecasts, work both independently and within a team environment (within a department, inter-departmentally and the affiliated network) and compassionately articulate the Habitat story.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Fundraising/Revenue Generation (40%)
* Establish a strategic and systematic focus on closing five-figure and above commitments from high net-worth individuals.
* Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward qualified prospects and donors, managing a portfolio of approximately 250 qualified relationships in a defined territory in the United States
* Conduct and/or coordinate face-to-face visits, and other activities with donors.
* Meet or exceed annual individual revenue goals.
* Work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential donors.
* Demonstrate a keen sense of curiosity for donors - seeking to "crack the code" of what compels each donor to give substantially by asking the right questions - and able to personally adapt as needed to meet the needs of donors.
* Close complex agreements for diaspora gifts, campaign, planned gifts, and financial products.

Proposal Development/Reporting (20%)
* Guide the development of compelling proposals and oversee the development of donor report.
* Provide accurate and timely activity and pipeline reports and revenue forecasts.

Database Management (20%)
* Manage/use a CRM system to input and output donor data to accurately inform their fundraising, proposal development/reporting and collaboration/stakeholder engagement and satisfaction.

Collaboration/Stakeholder Engagement & Satisfaction (10%)
* Routinely engage board members, organization executives, local affiliate colleagues and current donors in peer-prospect identification, visits, and five-figure gift closings.
* Collaborate with RD colleagues to analyze the portfolio, strategize upgrades, and to cultivate individual gifts from corporate partner executives.

Other (10%)
* Compassionately articulate the Habitat story.
* Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor's degree
* Years of Related Experience: 5+ years of front-line experience in individual gifts development in a nationwide setting, preferably as part of a nationally deployed team

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising in an environment of similar complexity.
* Ability to engage board members and key stakeholders in donor visits, and to earn and maintain their confidence.
* Successful experience closing five-figure commitments including planned gifts, campaign and endowment gifts, and investment options.
* Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including principal donors, Board members, national staff, and leadership in the field.
* Ability to collaborate with others in a complex, matrix-structured, dynamic organizational environment.
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen, and an unusual capacity to engage, inspire and persuade.
* Willingness to travel approximately 35-45% to a designated geographic region to regularly visit and cultivate new and existing donor relationships.

Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum):
* CFRE certification.
* Experience in a multi-national federated organization.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.

For work locations in the US, the target hiring range for this position is $92,225 - $103,075. The salary range for this position is between $87,000 - $130,000 per year.

Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia / Washington, DC), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
