Job Summary

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

Software Development

  • Develop robust and scalable software solutions, incorporating new technologies where applicable. Utilize Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies to deliver accurate development time estimates.
  • Focus on the design and development of desktop applications for Windows environments using C#, including integration with APIs and common libraries.
  • Collaborate with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team to deliver sophisticated software solutions that optimize design validation (DV) and characterization processes.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to enhance software quality and performance.
  • Address complex performance issues and architectural challenges; evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality standards in deliverables.
  • Offer technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues, determining and implementing workaround solutions, or escalating to appropriate service owners as necessary.
  • Web development capabilities are advantageous but not essential for this role.

Automated RF IC Test System Design

  • Engage closely with product designers and characterization engineers in the R&D labs to develop precise measurement techniques, from initial specifications to full validation, using automated test platforms.
  • Analyze product specifications to identify unique testing requirements for each specification, ensuring conformity and comprehensive assessment.
  • Automate test procedures to maintain an orderly and synchronous control of test instruments and the Device Under Test (DUT).
  • Select appropriate RF components (filters, circulators, cables, Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers) for implementing measurement techniques tailored to meet customer needs.
  • Address non-standard measurement requirements for investigating specific issues, which may involve rapid development of specialized hardware and software automation setups.
  • Perform calibration and Gauge R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) exercises to verify the accuracy of measurement platforms and their representation of the DUT.
  • Adapt to high levels of ambiguity and work with incomplete requirements typical of a dynamic R&D environment.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

  • Typically requires 8 to 12 years related experience depending on education level and experience
  • Equipment Proficiency
    • Familiar with making both manual and automated measurements using the following equipment: Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meters, Oscilloscopes, and Power Supplies.
  • Programming Skills
    • High proficiency with an object-oriented programming language, preferably C#.
    • Experience with NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and C/C++
  • Measurement Expertise
    • Capable of automating measurements for EVM, ACLR, Harmonics, Compression, IMD, Linearity, Noise Figure, Spurious, and Phase Noise
  • Digital Interface Protocols
    • Knowledgeable in at least one of the following protocols: MIPI RFFE, I2C, SPI.
  • Software Development Experience
    • Over 10 years in software development/architecture with a solid understanding of design patterns, data structures, test-driven development, backend systems, infrastructure, databases, and APIs.
    • Experience in RF IC Test System Automation Projects.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Ability to analyze RF systems for accurate measurement of large signal RF front ends.
    • Skilled in technical leadership, mentoring, and development of junior engineers.
  • Productivity Software and OS
    • Proficient with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Microsoft Teams, and operating systems including Windows 7/10 and Linux.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, capable of working effectively across distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in GitLab source control system
  • ASP .Net Core, Angular, SQL, WPF, and REST
  • Proven experience in project management, including familiarity with project management tools and software such as Microsoft Project and Agile project management methodologies.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD), Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA), or Professional Engineer (PE) certification are highly desirable.
  • A track record of publications or presentations in recognized industry journals or conferences related to RF engineering, test automation, or software development.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and interfacing with hardware, software, and quality assurance departments to streamline processes and enhance productivity.

Education Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Equivalent; MSEE preferred.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and follows a hybrid work model, requiring four days in the office per week and allowing one day of remote work from home. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
