At Maricopa County's Planning and Development, we provide our Engineers with consistency and the opportunity to balance work with their social life. As the Plans Examiner Engineer, you can expect a consistent 40-hour-a-week schedule that will challenge and encourage you to learn new aspects of engineering.
You'll work with a team of professional engineers and engineering associates to review permit applications for construction projects and planning cases (entitlement) and assist with on-call services to address customer inquiries. You'll review a variety of projects from residential to commercial/industrial; and subdivisions while interacting with consulting engineers, developers, homeowners, inspectors, and contractors. You will also assist and coordinate with other County permitting agencies including the Flood Control District, Maricopa Department of Transportation (MCDOT), Environmental Services, and Real Estate
This position has the option to allow for part-week teleworking, a 9/80 flex schedule, and flexible core business hours.

We Require
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
Two years of engineering or in engineering in land/site development project experience
Postgraduate degrees or design-level-related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Arizona

Five years of experience as a Professional Engineer
Design experience in land development, hydrology/hydraulic engineering, and municipal roadway projects
Drainage Report/Calculations preparation
Knowledge of Floodplain Regulations and/or Certified Floodplain Manager
