Our Silicon Valley Bank Life Science and Healthcare Relationship Banking Team is looking to hire a Vice President I to cover the MidAtlantic and Southeast region, covering Biotech, Diagnostics, HealthTech and Medical Device subsectors. The primary responsibility for this role is to be the point of access for our commercial banking clients for everything SVB and beyond. Relationship Management includes selling and delivering core commercial banking products (i.e. treasury management, venture debt, FX, investments, etc.) and broader SVB financial services (i.e. private bank, wealth advisory, insights, etc.). Core responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new clients, supporting existing clients, and advising on and negotiating financing solutions for commercial bank clients.

You will:

Engage clients and prospects to build strategic relationships with key executives, investors and influencers in the life science and healthcare ecosystems in which SVB operates.

Lead strategic credit discussions with clients and partner with Credit Solutions colleagues to ensure seamless underwriting and portfolio management.

  • Develop a network in the business community, while building a strong understanding of the business trends impacting healthcare.
  • Take a proactive approach in anticipating client needs and recognizing opportunities to cross sell.
  • Be responsible for new business development, expansion of existing relationships, and advancement of the SVB brand in market.
  • Manage assigned client relationships and provides support to MD and Director's client relationships to help ensure clients receive a world class relationship management experience

Responsibilities

Manage a wide range of client relationships.

Develop deep knowledge of SVB products and services and demonstrate ability to provide creative solutions to meet client needs.

Interact with clients, referrals, and prospects independently.

Lead client meetings with cross-functional SVB team members and colleagues to position appropriate solutions based on stage and business needs.

Understand lending/credit aspects of structuring, underwriting, and documenting loans.

Develop insights into life science and healthcare subsectors and demonstrate thought leadership.

Use expertise in identifying, developing and closing cross selling opportunities within assigned portfolio.

Seek out and follow-up on prospective client referrals through business activities and relationship development.

Establish and maintain a network in the business community by actively representing the Bank in community activities.

For Boston and New York, the base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $108,150-$162,226 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay. Qualifications

5+ years of commercial banking experience, or similar OR High School diploma or GED with 9 years of commercial banking experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of bank operations and products.
  • Experience and network in the life science and healthcare ecosystem a plus.
    Credit and structuring background
  • Strong relationship management, negotiation and marketing skills.
  • Good closing skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
