Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Program Manager to expand our Water/Wastewater Services practice in Northern Virginia. This position will be located in our Fairfax, VA office.

The Program Manager will be responsible for fostering existing client relationships, developing new clients, leading production, and leading technical staff in the execution of complex water/wastewater engineering projects and supporting business development, business strategy, and recruiting efforts.

The successful candidate will be a civil, mechanical, or environmental engineer with a diverse background and extensive experience in winning and executing complex projects focusing on wastewater collection system planning, analysis, design, construction administration, permitting, regulatory compliance, and sewer rehabilitation.

With support from the enterprise, the successful candidate will lead business development activities, pursue new clients and potential project leads, prepare price and technical proposals, and coordinate with other regional and national water/wastewater leaders to jointly pursue water/wastewater projects in the region. Additionally, the candidate will have access to corporate technical expertise as needed to support project pursuits and delivery.

Responsibilities
    Client management of key municipal water/wastewater clients.
  • Support and lead proposal efforts for municipal water/wastewater contracts and/or projects.
  • Support and lead client action and capture plans for specific clients or opportunities.
  • Project management and engineering lead for wastewater collections system evaluation and design projects.
  • Support and/or prepare task order proposals for on-call engineering contracts.
  • Mentorship of younger engineers and project managers in water/wastewater design, project management, and client management.
  • Participate in water/wastewater organizations including presenting at conferences to expand Dewberry's brand in the water market.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering field is required; M.S. degree preferred.
  • VA Professional Engineering license is required.
  • 15+ years' experience of increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public sector water and wastewater projects.
  • A minimum of 10 years' project management and technical staff supervision experience.
  • A successful track record of building water/wastewater client relationships in Northern Virginia's water/wastewater market, particularly high-profile regional clients.
  • A successful track record of managing projects, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client retention and new business development skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to coach and mentor junior and mid-level staff.
