WORK STYLE DESIGNATION: Hybrid (+50% Onsite)
WORK STYLE REQUIREMENT: Onsite - 3 days / Remote - 2 days
WORK LOCATION: La Jolla, CA (SAN) Office
EXPECTED PAY RANGE: $136,014 - $187,020 annually
This pay range is for the position's base salary only. This position may be eligible for other compensation including incentive pay and/or allowances. Candidates will receive additional information during the interview and selection process.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead bioinformatics projects and analyses to resolve the complexities of genomic structural variation from genome mapping data. (25%)
- Define strategic direction and analysis plans to drive innovative research projects internally or externally to improve analytic pipelines. (15%)
- Provide technical leadership and expertise to the bioinformatics pipeline and architecture. (20%)
- Collaborate across internal and external teams and disciplines to solve problems. (20%)
- Lead and contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations, technical reports, and to internal knowledge transfer. (20%)
EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- A Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Biophysics, or another relevant field
EXPERIENCE AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel may include conferences and customer visits.
- Travel may include visits to Japan as well as the North America.
- The above could equate to 20%, however may exceed this estimate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of related experience in the life sciences or molecular diagnostics industry setting strongly preferred.
- Strong scientific background, including an understanding of, molecular biology, structural biology, and statistics.
- Experience working with multiple genomic alignments and large genomic datasets.
- Proficiency with common bioinformatics tools for data analysis and working with "omics" datasets.
- Demonstrated expertise in Python and data science software tools.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on scientific challenges.
