FHCSD is seeking a self-driven professional to help current employees create short- and long-term career progression plans. This is a pivotal new position that will be dedicated to supporting our workforce in their professional journeys. The Employee Career Counselor will provide guidance to staff exploring all forms of career advancement at FHCSD and empower employees to achieve their goals by connecting them with internal and external resources. We have a diverse staff and a very wide range of career options at FHCSD, so this will be an ever-changing and evolving role that works closely with our senior leadership team. To be successful in this position you will need to be self-directed, collaborative, a strong communicator, data driven, and able to empathetically motivate others to intentionally direct their careers.

Job Duties

  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities for the delivery of in-house Behavioral Health, Medical Assistant and LVN grant and training programs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to enhance internal workforce development initiatives.
  • Stay familiar with labor market dynamics to provide up-to-date career prospects advice.
  • Conduct research and provide progress reports to senior leaders.
  • Help foster a company culture of continuous learning.
  • Identifying employee skill gaps and recommending appropriate development opportunities.
  • Meet with employees individually and in groups to discuss professional goals.
  • Help create action plans with tangible steps.
  • Connect staff with company resources designed to our staff progress.
  • Provide technical assistance to employees applying for financial assistance.
  • Spread awareness among staff about financial assistance programs offered to employees who want to pursue behavioral health or nursing careers, and other similar programs administered by FHCSD.
  • Guide employees through career transitions, including promotions, lateral moves, and changes in professional focus.
  • Assist in producing marketing materials and effective marketing strategies.
  • Develop effective presentations or training sessions on relevant career development topics.
  • Develop and maintain an effective referral network with educational institutions.
  • Connect learners to additional resources such as financial aid, vocational training, or other state and local assistance as available and needed.
  • Work with Grants Department to develop other workforce initiatives and to obtain grant support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of experience providing Career Counseling in a collegiate setting, Vocational Training Program Management, or Targeted Workforce Development grant experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County.

Desired Skills

  • Strong understanding of career development and counseling techniques.
  • Ability and skills to work with spread sheets, pivot tables, track loans, grants, scholarships, and follow accounting standards.
  • Advanced project management abilities.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

64,480.00 - 85,973.33

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
